Summer Skincare Musts: How to Protect, Hydrate, and Glow All Season Long

Summer is all about sunshine, pool days, and outdoor adventures—but it’s also a time when your skin needs extra care. Increased sun exposure, heat, and humidity can throw your skin off balance, making it essential to adjust your routine for the season. Here are some must-have skincare tips to keep your glow going strong all summer long:

1. Sunscreen is Non-Negotiable

Your #1 summer skincare rule: never skip SPF. A broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 is your best defense against premature aging, sunspots, and long-term damage. Reapply every two hours—especially if you’re swimming or sweating. If you are acne prone, have rosacea or struggle with melasma or hyperpigmentation a physical or mineral SPF is the superior choice. For extra protection I recommend a hat or sun shield!

2. Lighten Up Your Routine

Trade in heavy creams for lighter, water-based or oil-free moisturizers. Gel moisturizers and hyaluronic acid serums help lock in hydration without weighing down your skin.

3. Keep Pores Clean

Hypochlorus Acid should be in everyones routine as we get into the hot and humid months. It keeps the pores clean and bacteria free. I love to spritz my skin during a hike, after a workout, post pool dip or while traveling in busy germ filled areas.

4. Hydrate from the Inside Out

With heat and sun exposure, your body loses moisture faster. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day and eat water-rich foods like cucumber, watermelon, and leafy greens to help keep your skin plump and dewy.

5. Exfoliate Gently and Regularly

Sweat and sunscreen can lead to clogged pores. Gentle exfoliation (1–2 times a week) keeps your skin clear and smooth. Avoid harsh scrubs—opt for enzyme masks or light acids if your skin tolerates them.

6. Post-Sun Care is Key

Even with the best protection, your skin might feel dry or irritated after long sun exposure. Use calming masks or serums with ingredients like niacinamide, aloe vera, or algae extracts to repair and soothe your skin.

7. Keep Your Lashes and Brows on Point

Summer is a great time to go minimal with makeup. Lash lifts, tints, and brow laminations can give you a natural, polished look—no mascara or filling in required.
